Jonah P. Overton

Rev. Jonah P. Overton (they/them) is a queer and trans community organizer, and the lead pastor and planter of Zao MKE Church. Zao started in their living room and now resides in a historic church building in Milwaukee, WI. Jonah’s favorite thing about Zao is experiencing what church feels like when those of us who were left out get to be in charge. Jonah is passionate about the Bible and reclaiming Christian scriptures for liberation and the Kingdom. They host two podcasts: Jonah & the Peacock, in which Jonah and guests retell the texts through their own experiences of marginalized identity, and Christian Queeries, where Jonah and their partner Cameron talk shit about faith, theology, the bible, and more. Jonah has been married to Cameron since 2018 and is a proud Baba to their 3-year-old daughter Micah. Jonah’s free time is currently filled with fantasizing about paddle boarding and reading for pleasure, instead of having time and energy to do either. Some day, God willing.
