Akisha Townsend Eaton
Akisha Townsend Eaton, OFS, is an animal protection consultant and attorney, and Candidate in the Secular Franciscan Order. In her career, she has worked to advance the well-being of animals through legislative and policy advancements on the local, state, national, and international level, including at the United Nations. She is an Associate Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, and serves on the Advisory Council of CreatureKind. Her research has been published in the Journal of Animal Ethics and The Handbook of Practical Animal Ethics (forthcoming) and she has contributed to the Huffington Post on matters of faith and animal protection. In 2012, she was named a Young Adult Eco-Justice Fellow by the National Council of Churches. Akisha received her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University with distinction. She resides in Maryland with her husband, Jack.
