The Rev. Dr. Steve Tate grew up on a corn farm in Central Illinois. Following a call to specialized ministry, he earned a D.Min. degree and had a 20-year career in Pastoral Counseling. Then, walking through an unusual door of opportunity, Steve and his family moved to an abandoned tobacco farm in rural North Carolina to start a Goat Cheese Dairy Farm called GOAT LADY DAIRY. As leaders in the NC Local Food Movement, he and his family gave thousands of urban residents a local farm experience, hopefully changing their relationship with their food and the world. Steve and his wife, Lee, retired in 2018, selling their farm business to their younger employees. Steve is known for his humorous, heartwarming, and inspiring farm and nature stories. He is the President of the North Carolina Storytellers Guild and a co-leader of the Creation Justice Team at Congregational United Church of Christ in Greensboro, NC.
