Daneen Akers is a writer, filmmaker, and parent who believes deeply in the power of stories. She's the author of Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints, an illustrated children's middle grade book which features original portraits and profiles of people of diverse faiths who worked for love and justice, even when that rocked the religious boat (www.holytroublemakers.com) and Dear Mama God, a new picture book to help children (and their adults) experience the heart-expanding and liberating practice of praying to God as a Mother. She write the books she needs as a parent(and that she wishes she'd had as a child). She lives near Asheville, NC.
