Jesus fished for people, but he fished for fish too. There’s more to fishing than you think: you can grow the church and deepen your spiritual life. In this presentation I’ll use stories, fishing techniques, and the wisdom of the water to open a world of wonder and help you think differently about your church and your faith life. Most mainline churches are old, white, and dying. Most species of fish eat different bait. Want different demographics in your church? You have to use different bait. 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. Are you fishing in the right spot? Is your spiritual life stagnant? Being on the water puts you in touch with the vibrant, unpredictability of God. Imagine trying to sit in “your pew” in the ocean. With God, nothing is static and everything is dynamic. Your church and your faith life must attend to the bait, the weather conditions, location, and the wisdom of the water. And of course, you don’t always catch fish. But that’s all part of it. Come get excited about what fishing can do for you and your church!
