Type of Experience: Storytelling
Content Type: Sacred storytelling about reproductive choices
How do we move beyond the polarized public abortion debate and embrace the complicated decisions we make about our reproductive lives? We tell and listen to stories–stories of grief and loss, stories of joy and blessing, stories that are nuanced and complex. Based on the book A Complicated Choice: Making Space for Grief and Healing in the Pro-Choice Movement, this storytelling experience will take us beyond the falsely simplistic terms “pro-life” and “pro-choice” that define the public abortion debate and center the real people making the decision to end a pregnancy in the context of their full lives and circumstances. Together we will explore the stories that are often untold, giving space for the complexities of our reproductive journeys. This is an invitation to the act of sacred listening, to examine the judgments we have about people who have abortions, and to learn how we can respond faithfully with grace and compassion.
