Brett Loftis / TEARING DOWN THE BOMB-SHELTER CHURCH – HOW TO BUILD A TRAUMA RESILIENT FAITH COMMUNITY FOR COLLECTIVE HEALING

Sat 4:00pm - 4:50pm

Venue: Terra

Co-Creators

Type of Experience: Presentation

Content Type: Building A Healing Church

Have you ever wondered why people don’t flock to faith communities to find healing for their individual and collective wounds? Or are you quite sure you know why and have you yourself experienced the church as a place of hurt, exclusion, white supremacy and heteronormative judgement? If either is true, and you want to know what to do about it, this experience is for you. Come join this collective experience with Brett Loftis, the Founder of the Center for Trauma Resilient Communities and a nationally known trainer and facilitator as together we discuss beginning strategies for dismantling our “bomb-shelter churches” and rebuilding a trauma informed and trauma responsive faith community that is dedicated to healing individual trauma, building community resilience, dismantling structures of oppression and healing collective trauma such as systemic racism and LGBTQIA exclusion. Together, we will use humor, body awareness and collective care strategies to discuss what is possible within a budding, healing, community of faith.
