Stephanie L. Shaefer

STEPHANIE LYNN SHAEFER, Ph.D., L.P.C. Stephanie Shaefer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Virginia with a Ph.D. in Psychology. She is a Marriage, Child and Family Counselor with over 35 years empowering children, adolescents, couples, families and multiple family groups in mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual development. She works for the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia, with offices at Virginia Theological Seminary, Clarendon Presbyterian Church and Annandale United Methodist Church. As a former Elementary, Middle and High School Counselor, a Social Work in Migrant Fields, an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Communication and Center for Global Education at George Mason University, and a Certified Authentic Yoga Teacher, she enjoys facilitating hands-on skill training in interfaith dialogue and conflict resolution, and parent and family communication, teaching others the skills we use as counselors. She is especially interested in continuing her research and writing about commonalities among faiths, cultural methods of family problem-solving, and childrens’ books on moral and spiritual development. This is her third Wild Goose festival, last year presenting a workshop on Beyond Us Vs. Them: Building Empathy through Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue.
