Shan Overton is the faculty mentor of the Doctor of Ministry program in Creative Writing and Public Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she is also the founding Director of the Center for Writing and Learning Support and moderator of BookTalks. Her poems have been published in journals and anthologies, including Voices from the Attic. Her essays have appeared in The Porch Magazine, amongst other publications. In 2017, Shan won the Nashville Reads Writing Contest with her creative nonfiction piece, which was subsequently translated for publication in Spain. Her academic work focuses on voice in theological writing for the church, the academy, and wider society. Shan holds an M.A. in English from M.T.S.U., an M.Div. from Vanderbilt Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in Theology and Education from Boston College. In her spare time, she studies and writes poetry and creative nonfiction with the Madwomen in the Attic program at Carlow University.
