Barbara Newsom is a member of the United Religions Initiative (URI.org) Voices Grassroots Advocacy Table of the Global Cooperation Circle for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons. A lifelong advocate for peace, Barbara has an M.A. in Communications. She has been a nuclear safety and security researcher, instructor and consultant for more than 30 years. She follows in the footsteps of her father who spent almost a year as a Navy physician in Nagasaki, Japan, immediately after the atomic bomb was dropped. Barbara volunteers with first, second, and third generations of survivors of nuclear catastrophes to promote healing of the whole throughout our world. Barbara is a Stephen Minister and a lifelong Episcopalian.
