Dr. Tuf Francis (pronounced toof) is a professor, story teller, active musician, and family man. He began playing music nearly 30 years ago as a vocalist and playing a single Middle Eastern drum, called a derbeki. Since then, he has added acoustic guitar and drums to his repertoire. He played in several bands and has recorded music for almost 25 years. Tuf taught high school social studies for 10 years in Toledo, Ohio. He earned his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 2013 and is currently an associate professor and coordinator of the secondary teacher education program at Oakland University. His research focuses on initial teacher preparation and social studies education, focusing on the development of skilled practice in teachers.
