Debra Lynn Joseph

Debra Lynn Joseph is a contemplative artist, songwriter, and ceremonialist. She is tattooed, often barefoot, and was raised singing, preaching, and making ceremony in the hills of Appalachia. After leaving her rural town to earn B.A. and M.A.T. degrees, she spent nearly a decade pastoring an independent, LGBTQ-founded church in metro Atlanta. As an artist and songwriter, she draws from a deep well of familial, spiritual, and musical tradition. She pens her way through her life story and healing journey, inviting fellow travelers to sing and dance along. Her work as a ceremonialist has taken her from churches and town squares to lush forests and rushing rivers, holding sacred space and guiding contemplation for lovers, worshippers, and mourners alike. If you’re looking for Debra Lynn, you’ll likely find her playing in the dirt, hiking, paddling, piddlin’, or front porch sittin’ with her family in their Western North Carolina mountain home.
