Daneen Akers is a writer and doc film producer. Her current project is Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints, an illustrated children’s book with original portraits and profiles about people of diverse faiths who worked for love and justice in their corner of the world, even when that rocked the religious boat. Her upcoming picture book, Dear Mama God, is a simple child’s prayer of wonder and gratitude addressed to the Divine in feminine form. Daneen has taught English/language arts at various grade levels, and she co-produced and directed several independent documentary films in collaboration with the San Francisco Film Society; one of them, Seventh-Gay Adventists, screened at Wild Goose several years ago, which is how she came to know this beautiful gathering. She’s very fond of books, fireplaces, walks in the woods, snuggles with her daughters, and large pots of tea or coffee enjoyed with friends.
