According to the Center for Disease Control, Suicide rates are on the rise across the entire U.S. population. 45,390 American adults died from suicide in 2017. 124.4 people per day. Veterans account for 17 deaths per day. In 2017, Veterans accounted for 13.5% of all deaths by suicide among U.S. adults and constituted 7.9% of the U.S. adult population. This seminar addresses the cultural context of suicide. Signs of that someone could possibly be suicidal. Myths surrounding suicide, especially within the context of faith as well as concrete ways in which the faith community can provide care and support to suicidal veterans and help them receive the help they need before committing suicide.
