Sat 5:00pm - 5:50pm
Venue: Convo 10
Map out how whiteness has formed you and come away with some ideas for claiming and developing your racial identity. As White people committed to racial and/or intersectional justice, we usually find ourselves entering spaces we are unprepared to navigate. Part of our formation into a new way of being is choosing not to center our own experiences, ignorance, or needs at inappropriate times. But part of our formation must also include deep self-reflection and work in the company of other White people. We'll work through some discussion and journaling activities to define several aspects of whiteness (colonizer identity), identify where those forces are at play in our own lives, and discern action steps for wrestling with and/or subverting white supremacy by connecting with new/old aspects of ourselves and our identities.
