What is a worshipping community to do when the biblical mantra, Do not be afraid, runs up against rising gun violence and a fearful, protective society? While every community has its own context, risks, and solutions to consider, the gospel remains our bedrock. This session considers how to root our responses to the current crisis in faith before fear, and prayer before personal biases. Using bible study and biblical story as a starting point, it provides a spiritual practice for individuals and communities to make sure that their reactions and responses to the challenges of gun violence and attacks on religious communities are firmly and prayerfully grounded in the faith values that they hold most dear.
