Jesus did most of his kingdom-building work outside the walls of the church. Interacting with his community and capturing the hearts and imaginations of people unlikely to darken the doors of the temple. In the spring of 2020, Marissa Joyce was a founding member of Project Mask WS, a grassroots effort that donated over 120,000 masks to Front Line Responders in the unfolding Coronavirus Crisis. Over the course of 4 months, they raised over $75,000, recruited over 2,000 volunteers, and created a vibrant community in the midst of physical isolation. She is now working with Heart and Home WS, another scrappy grassroots effort to serve the feeding programs of local nonprofit organizations while also supporting and promoting local restaurants. In this session, she will share the wisdom and lessons she learned in helping to shepherd this movement and explore ways individuals can continue to connect with the heart of the community to meet felt needs in a way that builds bridges and inspires change and unity.
