Welcoming the Stranger: Releasing Resistance to the Arrival of the Unknown
Sat 3:00pm - 3:50pm
This conversation will create a dialectic between the Christian practice of hospitality to the stranger with psychoanalytic ideas about our resistance to change. Personal transformation will be discussed in light of our capacity to welcome the arrival of the unknown. Fear of change, our need for control, and our struggle to trust life’s unfolding will be explored in light of the surrender required for both mystical experience and the loss that comes with personal attachment. Emphasis will be given to modalities of being that best facilitate our ability to stay open to the unexpected.
