What if sexuality is about far more than who puts what where when? Clearly, we the Church don't know what we are doing when it comes to talking, thinking or feeling about sexuality. Most of us realize that we cannot teach what we once did -- basically a list of what not to do -- and in this liminal space we have become silent, irrelevant, of no use. Turning to the mystic tradition, we re-discover an attitude toward ourselves that can heal our wounds and set us free. Using contemporary theorists and poets, we imagine a way forward into wholeness and freedom. All of life acquires more depth, as we reject a purity culture in favor of multitudinous possibility and the gift of pleasure. Virginity becomes Liberating Self-Possession that holds whether in or out of a relationship. Together we will enact the story of Pelagia the Harlot/Actress, opening up the space around transgender realities and divine indwelling.
