Sandy Harthan Devoid

After many years serving on church staffs in the areas of faith formation and missions/outreach, Sandy Harthan Devoid went back to school at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and earned a MSW. Over the years she developed a deep appreciation and passion for hanging out with and supporting folks who have endured trauma. Studying and learning about trauma and its impact on our brains has opened a beautiful, new way of being with those who live on the margins of our communities. Sandy is excited to introduce followers of Jesus to this work so congregations can develop meaningful, supportive relationships with those who need us most. Sandy has worked with immigrants and refugees, homeless neighbors, domestic violence survivors, and church families. Currently Sandy serves as the Rural Victim Advocate for a local non-profit which offers free civil legal services to low income individuals and families. She also serves as lay pastor to Bell & Grace United Methodist Churches in Leicester, NC. Sandy is the proud Mom of Hannah Marie Roberts and her husband, John, and Alex Devoid, and his wife, Maddy Heath.
