Nathan works with Family Promise and a local church. After 29 years in collegiate ministry, he transitioned to working in the nonprofit sector, recruiting diverse congregations, and training volunteers to assist in sheltering families experiencing homelessness in the Athens, Georgia area. He is an ordained minister and has an MDiv and a Ph.D. in Adult Education (UGA 2011). The mission of Family Promise is to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. The model offers a unique, interfaith way for diverse community members to come together working to help some of the most vulnerable community residents regain footing, learn needed skills, gather resources, gain housing/employment, and achieve sustainable independence.
