Emily Joy Allison is spoken word poet, yoga teacher, and author of the book #ChurchToo (Broadleaf Books 2021). She has been writing, creating, and strategizing at the intersection of faith and sexuality for the better part of a decade. In November of 2017, Emily publicly came forward with her story of abuse in her childhood church, and the #ChurchToo movement was born. Emily's passion is to see survivors everywhere centered and cared for and to dismantle oppressive theological structures in Christian spaces. Emily holds a B.A. in philosophical theology and apologetics from Moody Bible Institute and is currently pursuing an M.T.S. from Vanderbilt Divinity School with a concentration in religion, gender and sexuality. She has released two studio albums of spoken word poetry, and in her spare time she enjoys running, practicing yoga, playing Animal Crossing, and going to the pub with her fiancée Caitlin and their dogs, Harley and Oscar.
