The Reverend Rob Lee

The Reverend Robert W. Lee is a preacher, author, and activist. A graduate of Appalachian State University and Duke Divinity School, Lee is known for his heritage as a descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and his activism in response to that heritage when he appeared on MTV’s Video Music Awards in 2017 after the events in Charlottesville denouncing White Supremacy. He also has been featured on ABC’s The View, the BBC, NPR, and many publications. He has preached and lectured across the world from the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Harvard’s Memorial Church, Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago, Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and The American Cathedral in Paris. He is the author of “Stained-Glass Millennials” (Helwys 2017) A Sin by Any Other Name (Convergent, 2019) and a forthcoming anthology of newspaper columns. (Helwys 2020)

Reverend Lee while continuing to preach in various places across the country currently pastors Unifour Church, a church made up of 85% LGBTQ individuals in Newton, North Carolina. He lives in his hometown of Statesville with his wife Stephanie. They curate and host the podcast Beloved Journal.
