Sarah Skinner

Sarah Skinner is a poet-activist and queer spaces advocate making her first appearance at Wild Goose. Her work reflects upon the impact of sexual and religious dominance narratives on women in the American South and includes insights gained from her adolescence in China as well as a degree in anthropology from the University of South Carolina. Using her professional experience as a Director of Events at Montreat Conference Center, Sarah hopes to share ways to design inclusive, empowering spaces for LGBTQIA+ members in your own community. Sarah believes poetry and the arts can and should be used to bridge and heal cross-cultural differences. In 2018, she was invited to return to her home town of Columbia, SC to read poetry for both March for Our Lives and the Wear Orange marches. Sarah is also a trained dialogue facilitator (through the Kaleidoscope Institute: for diverse, sustainable communities). Sarah’s hobbies include CrossFit, karate, and tea parties with her five year old.
